L'Immigrant, Alexa Super Baltars, New Orleans
Today we wrapped L’Immigrant, a short film by writer/director Brennan Elizabeth Peters. Shot over four days on location in beautiful New Orleans, LA, produced by Chris Haney and Jason Foster from the Greenhouse Collective.
With the support of Panavision we shot with an Alexa and vintage Super Baltar lenses, what a pleasure! The lenses are quirky, the wide angles (20mm, 25mm) have a really unique fall off and very soft focus on the edges of the frame. The long lenses (100mm, 150mm) have a beautiful milky luminance, very low contrast and magical. And of course there is the characteristic flaring, so unique and spacey, which we employed exclusively in the love scene.
New Orleans Film Society released a profile on Brennan and the film project (March, 2016):
Below are a few set stills I snapped. I’ll upload some screengrabs when I have them. Until then, cheers and laissez les bon temps roulez!
